GRANDPA IS NOT A CASH COW & GRANDMA WON'T TAKE ANY BULL (2025-04-08)

The next presentation of

Grandpa Is Not a Cash Cow
&
Grandma Won't Take Any Bull

A play that puts elder abuse in its everyday manifestations on center stage; abuse which is very real and too frequently ignored.

Date: June 8, 2025
Location: Morin Heights Elementary School, 647 Village Street, Morin Heights
Time: 2:00 pm
Cost: $5.00

The play has been touring the Laurentians in French for the last year.  Hugely successful, it has been translated and brought to the English community for the first time ever.

A cast of 15 volunteers, mostly seniors, has been rehearsing for the last 5 months in preparation. The world premiere was a huge success with standing room only - over 150 people saw it on Saturday April 6, 2013.

Call 1-888-974-3940 to reserve your tickets.

The Laurentian region has 33,170 English-speaking people out of a total population of 506,080. A mere 6.6% of the total population compared to 93.3% French-speaking people. The health and social service delivery to the Anglophone minority population is very challenging in today’s world of financial cuts.

The purpose of this column is to remind English-Speaking communities that they are entitled to the health and social services provided by our provincial government.  Together, interested citizens, English-speaking community representatives, municipal officials, religious leaders, education, local service providers and partners will to work toward solutions with the seven Health and Social Service territories (Centre de Santé et Services Sociaux – CSSS) in the Laurentian Region.

LESAN is an acronym for Laurentian English Service Advisory Network.  It is the umbrella name for all the English Committees in the Laurentians. LESAN is sponsored by The 4 Korners Family Resource Center, one of eighteen regional partners part of the CHSSN (Community Health and Social ServicesNetwork)  NPI (Networking Partnership Initiative) Program.  LESAN will enable the Anglophone community to establish common goals and be in a position to speak as one voice to promote improved services for our minority.

Each local committee works with their local Health and Social Service Center (CSSS) to identify existing local communication needs in the health and social service sector.  Local priorities for English language services can then be initiated.

Our goal is to create each chapter .  In short, people interested in working toward better access to health and social services.  The English speaking community must ask for services and participate in the service offers given.  Service requests from local LESAN chapters will provide each CSSS with a better understanding of what the needs of their local English-speaking people. Let us not kid ourselves, even the majority francophone community has health and social service challenges.  Let us work together to prioritize our English community requests. Two LESAN chapters have been created:  Lac-des-Deux-Montagnes and Pays-den-Haut.  The LESAN chapter in Argenteuil is slowly being formed and with time we will have representation in each territory.  We are dedicated to developing contacts throughout the Laurentians and extend this invitation to you to make a difference by joining the LESAN in your region.
